Despite sales influx from $2B Powerball, Massachusetts Lottery ticket sales falter
The Massachusetts State Lottery Tuesday stated it could be in some financial trouble regarding its overall sales for the fiscal year, despite the massive ticket sales generated by the recent Powerball jackpot worth $2 billion. According to Lottery Interim Director Mark Bracken, as of Sunday, lottery sales for the 2023 fiscal year are $22.5 million less than what they were for fiscal 2022. This includes overall instant ticket and scratch ticket sales, but it's an improvement from the $60 mill

$900 MILLION: Powerball jackpot rises, but sales miss in last draw makes for small increase
The PB worksheet on the TX lottery website still shows the initial forecast for sales of about $197.5 million (and an annuity of 875) for Saturday's drawing, but that was based on increasing from 750 to 875 million. The actual increase to just under 830 million suggests sales were actually about $126 million. The sales forecast for Wednesday is listed as just under $98 million, so the actual increase was a hair over 28%. That would suggest that Monday's jackpot would increase by about $103 m

State-by-State Comparison: Scratchers Sales vs PB/MM Sales
I went through every US state lottery's most recent financial report to see how sales of scratchers compare to sales of Powerball and Mega Millions. Some states didn't have granular data available, but where it is available, you can see scratchers out-sell PB/MM by a wide margin. In two states (OR and SD) lottery sales are dominated by video lottery, and scratchers and draw game sales are just a drop in the bucket. Two other states (ND and WY) don't even sell scratchers. In all states, I did not

$1.55 BILLION: Biggest Mega Millions jackpot ever to be drawn Tuesday
There were only 7 second prize winners. Thought there would be more then 7 but tickets sales are a lot smaller then in the past when there were big giant JP like this. Last July the advertised Jp for a drawin started out at 1.02 billion and they had ticket sales of 703 million. Tonights advertised JP started out at 1.55 billion and they only had ticket sales of less then half of that 703 million. Lottery fatigue i guess or people dont have the money to spend on tickets with inflation being so hi
