How to calculate odds
My state posts odds online for new scratch-off games. But once the game has been sold for a while, I assume the odds have changed. Is that correct? So, for example, if there were 10 of the top prize available at the beginning, but 6 have been won, how do you calculate the odds for the remaining 4 top prizes? More important, how do you calculate the odds for all remaining prizes as a group? Thanks.

How to pick games
Hey guys, I am wondering if you guys can help me out with trying to pick games... and figure out what I could be doing wrong. My state is Kentucky and I will go in and calculate the total number of winning tickets left and calculate the total prize money left, then I can find the average prize for a game. Then I can use the odds of winning to calculate the expected value of a lottery ticket bought. Right now the only game I see that has an expected value greater than the purchase price is Cash K

Yes, I do that quite often, and sometimes post the table here. The most recent one was: https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/250725/3394812 Actually, you calculate the total number of tickets printed from the top prize odds: 19 * 1,200,000 = 22,800,000 From there, you can get a more precise 1 in 3.502 overall odds, and do other analysis. The overall odds really don't change much as the game progresses. I've seen a bunch of websites and tools that regularly pull the prize claims d

I posted the IRL for the new game on the previous page, so we should be able to calculate the odds at hitting the $10M and $100k prize on it fairly easily. I'm too lazy to do it at the moment. The $25 World Class Cash game seemed to be designed with more frequent $1M and $20k prizes in mind, hence the much more difficult $10M prize tier. I think the new $20 $10k/wk for Life game will have better odds at hitting $10M.

New service for New Jersey scratch-off players
I hope this isn't considered spam, but I think this is pretty handy. You see, the lottery in NJ doesn't tell you what the odds are of winning a particular prize, and even their overall odds quote is just a vague estimate. But with the information they do give, I was able to calculate the odds for their instant games. It's here (or the first wave of games are here) at http://thelottogeek.freehostia.com/NJScratch.html. Now, they are in Excel format, but there is a link to download a free Excel vie

Scratch-Off Skepticism
Hi. I have a question. Let's say I want to play an instant scratch-off lottery game that has overall winning odds of 1 in 4. If possible, how do I know those odds are not bogus? Is there a way I can calculate those odds myself? Unlike instant games, with all of the numbering possibilties of (for example) pick3, pick4 games, I know how to calculate the odds myself. But with instant games, the consumer doesn't know how many tickets were printed (made). If we did, (...assuming the

odds?
Maverick -When it is said that odds of a winning ticket are 1::3.70, it simply indicates that out of every 37 tickets, 10 (on average) will be winners. For instance, in a game where 37 million tickets are produced, 10 million will be winners. And, if 10 million tickets are winners, then 27 million tickets will be losers. Doesn't tell you how much or what you'll wiin if you win, doesn't tell you what the payout percentage is, doesn't tell you where the tickets are distributed (either on the roll

I was a little bored so decided to calculate the odds for symbol/non-symbol wins on the new 200X...interesting that you're more likely to win with a symbol than not...due largely to the fact that the most common win is two (2X x $5).
