Odds calculator help...
Do anyone in here is a math wiz? Does anyone know how to calculate the odds of a game that selects X amount of numbers but where you have to match X - 1 to win, Example, a pick6 1-45 lottery that draws 6 numbers but you have to match 5 to win? Here in Ga we have a game called: win for life where players choose 6 numbers to win and the lotto selects 6 numbers from 1 to 42 and a mega ball from 1 to 42 (making it 7 numbers in total) but you must match 6 numbers to win? How does Powerball calculate their odds?
On their website, they have the odds of picking the Power Ball alone ($3 prize) listed as 1:70.39.I have no idea how they arrived at this as there are 42 Power Balls total. It's difficult to explain but I dream about winning the Power Ball on almost a nightly basis.

We can't buy one PB ticket for a $1 so if someone wants to compare odds it must be a comparison of two MM tickets to one PB ticket. no one, including Mr. Grief is putting a gun to anyone's head to play MM or PB. Maybe the lotteries rea

Pick Ten
It not clear how they calculate the odds. (They Pick 20 Numbers, Prizes are Awarded for Matching 10 of the 20 Numbers.)

Is this strange
The odds for that game are 1 in 41,391,714 so I would say pretty normal if sales per draw are low. I have seen jackpots with lower odds go without a winner longer (i.e. Ohio Classic). Would really need the sales figures to calculate significance

Do some number combinations have better odds?
And what are your odds, hmmm? Or are we not going to know that until after the drawing and you calculate your odds based on how good your guess was?
