Questions on the Scratch-Offs
Welcome to Lottery Post Tasha! It really depends on the amount won. If it is under $600 dollars then you can collect it from the store. If the prize is over $600 dollars you have to collect it at the lottery office. I am not sure how much time you have to wait to collect a large win. I've heard some people say they give you a check right away and some have said that they check your background to see if you owe anything to the government. Again, I believe it has to do with the amount you have won

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Not sure if you won something big lately to have this affect you, I have not yet so I am not worried about anything like this. At least on the flip-side California is one of the few states where you do not have to pay state income tax (amongst the highest in the nation). From what I know, the lottery in the state is more government oriented and the check you receive is from the state controller and not CA Lottery organization. Well no matter where you are at, I read on these forums that just

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Yep. For some government jobs, just *getting* the job is like winning the lottery! Like that one lifeguard they mentioned: He retired at age 51, with a $108,000/year pension for life! That's just like one of them Set for Life Scratchers we had a while back, $100,000/yr for life. But that was capped at 20 years as life.($2M total) The lifeguard is *truly* for life, so could be $3M or more.

Post your scratch ticket results
I went to the local Publix and they were out of my favorite $20 dollar ticket Millionaire Jumbo Bucks. So I decided to go with a game I don't normally play which was the $20 dollar 3 Million Tax Paid. Since it was on ticket number #000, I thought what the heck. Well BAM it was worth it. It goes to show that big winners seem to be always at the beginning or end of a roll of tickets. Of course now my only problem is that I have to go to the lottery office and they seem to be like every other gover

Starting Your Own Scratch ticket?
Actually, the company that makes most of the instant game tickets isn't a government agency, but only state lotteries can distribute them. But where would you get the money to make the payoffs any way? Here is some more information from a recent thread: https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/157300/844839

Starting Your Own Scratch ticket?
Hey just wondering if there was anyway/ possibilty on starting your own scratch ticket. If there is I would be very interested in knowing the laws of distributing it. What licenses you would need, and how much would be needed to start a buisness like this off. For some reason though I keep thinking all scratch ticket companies are created by the government. This may seem like a stupid question but i would appreciate a good answer. Thanks

I bought an entire book of $20 GA tickets - $3,000,000 Taxes Paid
RJOh, I am glad I got that out of my system. I expect they have to sell a lot of losers to make a profit. They just sent me a bunch of coupons, but they are not much, most are buy 1 online game and get a QP free, or $1 off an instant ticket, limit 1. Really more of a tease than anything else, but maybe it gets the casual player to spend more, it just does not seem like too much of a temptation to me. I wish it were a percentage off instead, or buy 1 get 1 free instant ticket. If I had just

Have you ever wondered why many lottery retailers are owned by members of certain racial minorities?
5) continued. Lets contrast two business models for example, we will compare FEDEX Kinkos or a UPS store against the US Postal Service. If you go into a privately owned UPS store, more times than not you will be greeted by cheerful staff that are happy to help you, and go about their business in a quick manner. Now contrast that with a government run program, USPS. If you have ever had the misfortune of going into a post office, you will no doubt remember standing in a long line, only to face a

Have you ever wondered why many lottery retailers are owned by members of certain racial minorities?
Here in the Marietta, Georgia area, it has been my observation that a very large percentage of lottery retailers are owned and operated by members of certain minorities, especially people of Middle Eastern descent. I have always wondered why this is the case, haven't you? After all, northeast Cobb is primarily white, very close to or above 90%. I have the answer for you. It is a Georgia law which disenfranchises members of the white majority. If you were to replace the words minority with the

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
Interesting, I'll try to get some information on book locations for HG and will share them with you all. I've said it once, and will say it again...FL Lottery needs to reevaluate many of their practices. They claim destroying books is to ensure integrity, but a lack of accounting of top prizes within the destruction process can skew an overall game's odds. Store owners have even expressed concerns about this happening in the past. I had a conversation with one of the owners of AK Kwik,
