I wonder if the tax law regarding the lottery will ever change here in the US. By taxing jackpot winners, its bascially a sort of double taxation. Ofcourse the tax revenue is nice for the government but how can European countries afford to forgo that tax income from lottery winners and still raise enough money for government services? yea you are right, the government should not be able to just take money as they please. but hey its the government, there isnt anything we can do about that. We would assume that since the game is ran by the government it would be fair, no cheating and of coarse there would be nothing to hide. Sounds funny doesnt it? the government is good at covering things up that doesnt make money, but something that makes them money is worth covering it up and faking things. Theres no way to prove it.... We gotta sneak someone into that building so they can watch what goes on... :)

You could buy several smaller annuities if you wished. The main annuity is just like making one investment, in this case US government bonds. Historically US bonds have kept their value, but we have never had a government quite as irresponsible as we have now. I'd take the cash just to diversify my holdings.
