Happy Texas Independence Day!
The Texas Declaration of Independence was framed and issued by theConvention of 1836 at Washington-on-the-Brazos. As soon as the convention was organized a resolution was introduced for appointment of a committee to draw up a declaration of independence. Richard Ellis, president of the convention, appointed George C. Childress, James Gaines, Edward Conrad, Collin McKinney, and Bailey Hardeman to the committee. Childress was named chairman, and it is generally conceded that he wrote the instrumen

Waiting for Wealth
Media, We can completely agree on cuts............I have no desires to do the baseball bat ordeal, that is gormless......Your stance is believing that taking more from the real heavy hitters will aid in resolving the issue......It could help provide some extra $$ towards a balanced budget. The problem lies with the government , which isn't happy with what they make. They continue to outspend what they take in.....Then its the old addage we need more revenue cause we spend more cause the taxpa

things i have noticed
Because the government has no money, the People have money, the government spends our money. By allowing welfare recipients to gamble with their government checks, they are simply doing that gambling with your money and mine. Remember that, the government is nothing without its people.

Are lotteries part of the solution to the crisis in states' budgets?
I think we're basically saying the same thing from two different vantage points. However, I do not believe forcing people to give the government more money is ever the solution. Reasonable taxation that supports the bare necessities is important, but taking away money because the government can do something extra with it is not. The federal government government was strictly created in order to create a nation-wide currency to allow trade between the states, to form treaties with other countr

Is it immoral to work if you've won enough to not work?
I didn't say I wanted to do something that the government is preventing me from doing. I said some people want a nanny government to hold their hand and tell what, when, and how to do everything in their lives. And there are many, including me,that want government out of our lives, just let us live free. Government's job is to protect citizens from outside forces, armies, and in short, uphold the constitution. The founding fathers never intended for government to become a nanny state. I'll go

TX Lottery Employee Fired After.....
To fire a whistle blower is bad news for them in the long run, unless they have plenty of valid documented reasons for the firing! The Government doesn't favor any company firing a whistler blower without a valid reason other than just to fire a snitch! The Texas lottery could be facing something worse than a bad public image if that person does decide to challenge their firing in a court of law with the government acting as their lawyer! Remember, once they file the wrongful firing with the l

Online Lottery Play
I'm a adult. I don't want or need the government, dictator over my money after they've gotten their taxes. I don't need them telling me how to enjoy my money. If I wanted to play on- line with some of it so be it. Unlike them I Know what a budget is. I feel the government has had enough free lunches it our expense. 85% of the money they got in taxes is squandered. If they had limited themselves as much as they've trying to limit us as adults now, the National debt would been lower. So, it time f

Remaining anonymous
The role of government is explicitly defined in the Constitution. The Constitution places strict limits on the power of the federal government over the states and the people. It was written expressly to prohibit the massive federal bureaucracy we have now. It was written to prevent a domineering, dominating, all powerful centralized government the likes of which our forefathers fled in search of true freedom. Our government is now in the hands of control freaks who subvert and ignore the Constit

Welfare & Jackpot Lottery Winners
I think the major problem with our country is the entitlement attitude that pervades every sector and corner of our country, from government officials and workers, to union employees to hourly employees to school children and adults of all ages and even to military members and their families. Now I don't just throw out a controversial statement like that without providing background and proof. Government service used to be just that, but now all you hear from heads of government agencies is t
