Discovery - New PA Raffle Game Change
Coworker said he wouldn't buy any tickets until the last month of sales, hoping to get a number later in the sequence. Little did he know the sales are so poor, his ticket was in the 88K range with 30 days to go. That is less that 18% of total sales since the on sale date of August 25. This is still good for the player, odds will increase because they wont sell out, just hoping the lottery keeps the same prizes, even if they don't reach their break even point in sales. This could be the last mil

Multi-state lottery jackpots are growing at a smaller pace
I posted 3 days ago about how much sales have dropped for the Mega Millions game the last couple of years. I was just checking out PB sales and its the same with it. It has rolled now 16 drawings and the advertised JP for it now stands at 261 million. The last drawing which had an advertised JP of 230 mill after 15 rollovers resulted in ticket sales of 55 mill. Less then 2 years ago when the JP was hit in May for 590 mill it was the result of 13 rollovers. After it had rolled 10 times the advert

How Much Money Do You Spend Playing the Lottery in a Week?
You're absolutely right Jimmy. I was just using a simple example. The true expected value of any given pari-mutuel jackpot depends on the number of tickets sold. You can use either the Poisson or Binomial formula and basically just multiply the prize by the probability of only 1 winner. For example, with odds of 1 in 25,000,000 and jackpot of $25,000,000 and sales of 5,000,000 tickets, the expected value is $22,658,656 which comes out to about 91 cents (again, taxes not figured). It is imp

How high will ticket sales be for tonights MM Drawing
I see no one took a guess. Its to early yet to see what the amount was. So whats anyones guess for Fridays drawing? Checking back on past sales theres been 2 times whan sales went over $ 200 million. March 6 2007 whan the annuity was 370 million. Sales for that drawing were 212 million and Jan 3 2011 whan the annuity was 380 million. Sales for that drawing were 230 million. With this drawings annuity being 476 million and Cash value of 341 million which im sure will go higher by Friday im guessi

a change is coming to lotto south
REPORT OF THE AUDIT OF THE KENTUCKY LOTTERY CORPORATIONhttp://www.kylottery.com/annual_report/2005-2004KYLotteryaudit.pdfIn September 2001, the KLC introduced Lotto South as a replacement game for Lotto Kentucky. The KLC participates in this game with the Georgia and Virginia lotteries. The increased population base allows for higher and faster growing jackpots than the KLC could generate on its own. Despite those attributes, Lotto South sales for 2005 continued to decline to $17.5 million,

Oklahoma pick 3 vs. scratch-offs
State lottery officials say sales of the new Pick-3 tickets are trailing sales of scratch-off lottery games. The Pick-3 game began last Thursday and after six days sales totaled just more than 488-thousand dollars. First day sales were 160-thousand dollars, but the average since has been about 65-thousand-500 dollars a day in sales for the tickets in which players can win 50- to 500-dollars by matching numbers to three numbers drawn in a nightly drawing. I wonder if pick 3 does any better in oth

powerball 16 th draw 180 million
I've figured out the reason it jumped by such a low amount. Powerball has been selling less tickets than they projected this run. If you do the math, the CVO for Saturday's jackpot, had it been won, would have been only $79.3 million (32.6689% of the first four draw sales go to the jackpot, under the old matrix, while 30.28855% of the remaining draw sales go to the jackpot, under the new matrix). For the real draw sales, go to http://www.lottoreport.com/salescomparison.htm . Powerball's pres

New Lottery idea
Mmmmm, seems to me that the starting point of a PB, MM or any lottery game is a projected estimate of possible sales. Now didn't the officals in Texas get their butts in the ringer for not projecting estimated sales properly of their state lottery game? And the result of that happening they had to leave the jackpot at the same amount which in turn stalled sales for that current game. Then if someone did hit the jackpot the state would have to make up the difference between the wrong estimated sa

Are we seeing the results of CA?
I need to clarify some data in earlier posts.According to sales figures I've seen, and believe to be accurate, MM sales went up in all 11 states. About 5 million tickets were sold in Calif. The sales dropped about 2 million for the second drawing. Overall, about $20 million tickets were sold on June 24, about $7 million more than were sold on June 21, last day of the old matrix.Personally, I thought there would be a sales decrease in all of the 11 states, as lot of folks had predicted. The decrea

Is it worth playing the lottery with those odds?
At the start of the current MM jackpot run on average less than 10 million tickets were sold in the first seven drawings. And the next seven draws still only averaged under 15 million tickets sold. Less tickets were sold when the advertised jackpot was $283 million than the previous $256 million jackpot and ticket sales were under 18 million. If players are playing for secondary prizes, it should be reflected in the individual state lottery sales more than in the total sales because secondar
