New report criticizes Iowa Lottery security
Report claims lottery not investigating fraud complaints The state ombudsman issued a report Tuesday alleging Iowa Lottery officials have failed to adequately protect the enterprise's customers from fraud and theft by retailers. Iowa Citizens' Aide/Ombudsman Bill Angrick said his review of three years' worth of lottery investigations found numerous customer complaints where leads went unexplored and potential crimes were not pursued. And, Angrick said in a 210-page report, even when the

MUSL settles lawsuit with man who won Hot Lotto jackpot marred by rigging
A national lottery group rocked by an insider's jackpot-rigging conspiracy has settled a lawsuit brought by an Iowa grandfather who said a $9 million prize he won in 2011 should have been far larger. The Multi-State Lottery Association and Larry Dawson informed a judge of the settlement this month, canceling a trial that had been scheduled to begin next week in Des Moines. Dawson's lawyer, Nicholas Mauro, said that the terms of the deal are confidential but that his client is relieved that

Friend of lottery winner pleads not guilty By Kate Northrop An associate of a lottery winner pleaded not guilty to lottery fraud after being accused of falsely cashing in a $50,000 winning scratch-off ticket. The Fort Dodge man was charged with one count of lottery fraud, a Class D felony classified as forgery or theft of a ticket, for turning in a winning lottery ticket that reportedly did not belong to him. Court rejects Colorado man's claim to full $4.8M lottery jackpot he unwittingly split with scammers
If the Colorado drawing could have been fraudulent in the first case, due to the fraud perpetrated by Tipton, then Massihzadeh was not necessarily entitled to win anything in the first place [b/c the winning numbers would not have been chosen but for fraud], and he should be thankful for the prize that he was allowed to claim.

Post your scratch ticket results
Uh oh, I think I was a victim of lottery fraud. I tried to cash my $500 today and it came up as already paid. It hasn't left my house since I got it, so I think posting the picture here or at Facebook would be the culprit. Unless it is a real error. I will never post open barcodes again on big wins. I should be able to get my $500 since I have the original and it would have been cashed by fraud.

Florida Lottery Considering Computerized RNG Drawings
RNG not a good idea in a state where fraud is so rampant. In the medical community the entire state of Florida is considered a hot spot and there are specific areas in Florida that are deemed on fire so Noooooo . Too much fraud in the state already.

More millennials than seniors losing money to scams
The article hints at it, but older people may be less likely to report fraud. I live in Florida and there is a large population of older people (e.g., god's waiting room). Many get taken advantage of by caregivers, relatives, financial advisers, etc and it never gets reported. Given their diminished capacity, many old people never report the fraud (or realize they were defrauded in the first place).

N.Y. men arrested for redeeming winning lottery tickets for people in debt
This is incomplete reporting. It took 3 sets of people to pull this scam yet only two sets are reportedly being punished. The biggest culprits in this fraud are the actual winners. They are the linchpins in the entire fraud as nothing can happen without them. What are their names, how much did they owe, how much did they win and what were the punishments meted out?
