Maryland lottery sales exceed $1.6 billion
The Maryland Lottery said it has achieved its 11th straight year of record sales, topping $1.673 billion and surpassing state estimates for the fiscal year. The lottery also exceeded its revenue target, raising $529 million in total revenue for the State of Maryland for Fiscal Year 2008. Records were set in every major category, including total sales, prizes paid to players, commissions earned by lottery retailers and revenues returned to the state to help support vital state-funded programs

S.C. concerned about potential impact of N.C. lottery
Robyn Lorick knows the importance of lottery scholarships. There are three of us in college right now, says the 46-year-old mother of two.Lorick and her son, 20-year-old Michael, both receive lottery tuition assistance for their studies at Midlands Technical College. Her daughter, 18-year-old Kaitlyn, gets the LIFE scholarship at Clemson University. But with North Carolina moving closer to establishing a state lottery, Lorick, like many in South Carolina, is concerned about the impact on sales f

Texas Lottery hits new sales record
Scratch-offs are biggest chunk of $3.77 billion, as Lotto Texas' popularity drops Officials with the Texas Lottery Commission took a gamble on scratch-off games a few years ago and, according to the latest figures, the bet's paid off: The agency's overall ticket sales rose to $3.77 billion in fiscal 2006, the highest total in the agency's history, with most of the increase coming from the games that provide immediate gratification. The big growth is in the scratch-offs, said Robert Heith

Final 2017 MM and/or PB jackpot?
Yes i overlooked the extra drawing we had. I still think that maybe to many people spent way more then they could afford to 2 years ago and we may never see another JP climb as fast as it did 2 years ago. It used to be a 400 million dollar JP was really big news but not so much anymore. Here are some sales figures from the last couple years starting with the record JP. These are what the next JP were announced to be at first and the amount of ticket sales. Of course some of these JP amounts were

Something definitely wrong with this lottery payout..Yikes.
It's also based on sales. The sales for both MM and PB have been higher than normal in that the rollovers resulted in more than $5 million and $10 million increases. Since we dont know the sales in California we can only guess. But since California is so large, It would be unusual if the sales werent the norm or higher. Therefore, the 5/5 jackpot should also be higher.

PA Millionaire Raffle- St. Patrick's Day Edition
While daily sales have greatly increased, sales are still 25,000 behind the Halloween drawing with the same number of days remaining. I expect a big advertising bombardment from the lottery to try to boost sales. Looking to sell around 335, 000 tickets or so, that would put odds of winning a million around 1 in 84000 or close to it. If 335,000 tickets do sell, that puts the half way mark for sales on March 9., which is 58 days into the ticket sale window, which shows how much people wait to the

Florida Lottery Holiday Millionaire Raffle
Just bought my first ticket, sales are at 19,300. So day four, sales are pretty slow. If this raffle sells out, the average number of tickets sold per day would be 20,833. Of course, I would expect a bump in sales volume on the weekend, especially Saturday. If sales volume remains low through the 23rd, that means better odds of winning a prize in the first weekly drawing.

Since both jackpots have astronomical odds- are you "still" for a ..
With MM sales sales of 24,553,569 and PB sales of 16,375,707 in their last drawing and without a huge increase in sales, there is only about a 10% chance of one MM winner. And PB chances are much lower.

Mega Millions and Powerball will be hit this week.
No, based on sales estimates (I revised my %'s based on more recent data). While jackpots do drive sales, probability of a hit is not directly related to the level of the jackpot. Interestingly though, the lottery creates their sales projections based on recent draw sales correlated to past, similar jackpot levels.

$636 Million Mega Millions jackpot split by 2 tickets
No, I'm using the data. You seem to be ignoring it even when you acknowledge it, since you know that a previous run reached $1.5 billion in sales over 19 drawings, whereas this one took 22 drawings to reach only $1 billion. As usual I can't tell much from that stuff you've got jammed together on the graph, but the raw numbers are easy to understand. Here they are, along with comparisons to one another. Other than corrections for the final totals the annuity values are from lottoreport, as are th
