Ct. Senate votes to collect delinquent taxes from lottery winnings
I agree, those who owe taxes need to pay up! But, wait a second, don't they take the taxes out of lottery winners' windfall? Apparently, both the government and the winners have a stake in the winnings, since both the winner and the government played the game, the government deserves a cut.......wait........ what am I saying, hands off our money!

Spanish lottery player wins €123M Euro Millions jackpot
This is not the case for Canadian lotteries. Anyone can play and win regardless of their citizenship or country of residence. No taxes are withheld by the Canadian government again regardless of their citizenship of country of residence. If an American citizen wins a Canadian lottery, they have to pay taxes to the US government but no taxes are paid to the Canadian government.

POLL: Would You Support A Nationwide Raffle?
With more people being elected to government that think everything should be privatized, is there anyone in government that would support such an idea? The common reasons for having raffles are to raise money, the government doesn't need any new ways of giving it away.

Missouri Senate to discuss privatizing state lottery
Corporations can do amazing things with their own money, and do it far better than the government could ever do with taxpayer money. Government should be trying to do things at a profit, if they did we'd be in far less trouble now as a country. When government runs out of money, they just raise the shortfall through taxes. Businesses have to find a way to make it. However I am not quite as trusting of corporations when it comes to public/taxpayer money as think there is a very high potential

Puerto Rico turns store receipts into lottery tickets
The government is stepping on the PRIVATE business AGAIN. What does private mean -- apparently nothing if you are in a 'communist' regime. Now businesses will be forced into paying the government for a machine (plus expensive paper and expensive ink) that they have no choice about. Also, now people who buy groceries and ready-made items and services will be charged a very high 7% additional tax by the government ... without necessarily getting anything in return (tax monies may instead be ta

Lottery winner charged in tax conspiracy
Wow, he's in a world of hurt! How did he think he was going to get away with it, anyway? Since the government is hurting for money, and I'm not blaming him for trying to keep his, the government is attempting to squeaze every nickel and dime from its citizens to pay for 1) roads; 2) war; 3) building projects; 4) education; 5) loss revenues by the democrats and the republicans); 6) Obama's Wall Street bail out; and anything else the government can perceive as belonging to them.

Harry Reid pushing to legalize online poker for American casinos, horse tracks
Bush had signed a law making transfers from banks to online gambling sites illegal. I am supposing that Reid is mainly interested in getting these casinos online because its what they want and if he wants their support this is a good way to get it. It would be good for anyone who wanted to play online because of not only the ease of it but because you can get better odds. Lets face it the pay lines that the states are using are obscene, they really should be paying out more given the odds.
