He does get on my gander a bit. Is that an American expression too? Nothing sexist intended.I put his frequency of Posting down to wanting to have the Most Postings Record. With all the congratulations to the current record holder I think you may have spurred him on. I dare not say anthing political and hope others don't too as he obviously enjoys expressing himself if somewhat a little exubrently.GooseDon't be too offended; just moderate your rate of Posting to a reasonable level. Re: Formula for nobody winning is ((N-1)/N)^T where N is ...
Reply to Joe Schmoe's 4/17/2002 8:02:05 PM ET messageYour formula is creative, but I don't think it is correct!Assume there is a lottery with 1/10 odd of win (9/10 Odd of lose), and suppose 10 different tickets sold (all combinations). With your formula, chance of nobody win= ((N - 1)/N)^T= ((10 -1)/10^10= 0.347In simple logic, the winning ticket is sold. It is because all possible patterns sold. Therefore, the formula is false! Please participate and solve this math problem!Original Message:A fe

Formula for nobody winning is ((N-1)/N)^T where N is ...
A few messages ago I was wondering how to calculate the odds that nobody would win. Looks like it's ((N - 1)/N)^T where N is the total pool of numbers and T is the number of tickets sold. Let's apply this to the drawing just held: 2,744,447 won $1 with the odds of 1 in 62. So there were approximately 170,155,714 tickets sold. (76,275,359/76,275,360)^170,155,714 gives 10.75% chance that nobody wins.

Calculates Odds by Position
Games of chance are dependent on the odds. The odds are determined based on how many times a number appears in a given range. The better understanding of the odds that we have, the more educated our guesses can be. I am not a mathematician, but one of the tools I developed while feeling my way through this was something that would calculate the odds of a number appearing based on the position and previous number. Here is a sample of the results that it produced.

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
I was a little bored so decided to calculate the odds for symbol/non-symbol wins on the new 200X...interesting that you're more likely to win with a symbol than not...due largely to the fact that the most common win is two (2X x $5).

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
Not that bad, since the minimum prize is $50. Did you, or anyone else calculate the odds at hitting $100 and $500? I'm thinking this could still be a decent game to play...

Back Testing Formulas
With adding the 3sum into the back testing, my overall odds of wining the minimum or greater has increased and it is higher then the posted overall odds. I was using Foxpro, but with the latest windows 10 updates, it has broken my backtesting program. I am rewriting it in Java (and learning java), and then I will have to redo all the backtesting. Basically I was using different seed values for a random number generator having it create a set of numbers (with certain checks) and see what % won an

(New member) Have any of you broken down a keno game?
Pick 3 is basically 1 in 1000. 3 digits 0 to 9. Pick 4 is 1 in 10,000, 4 digits 0 to 9. The odds are fairly straightforward to calculate, if 1 digits is fixed in P3 there are then 100 combinations where that 1 digit appears. There are additional calculations for box versus straight or odd versus even. The problem with those games is that the payout isn't enough to make winning worthwhile.

How to pick games
Cash King had the 'last day to buy' = 12/31. We disagree with others on this thread. There ARE VERY SPECIFIC calculations you can use to increase your odds of winning - specifically a top prize. LUCK IS NOT ENOUGH- with some simple rules, you can increase your chances of winning. At ScratchSmarter, we calculate it very simply as: Proportion of Top prizes Remaining vs Proportion of Total Tickets sold. Google ScratchSmarter and to find our URL.
