The Tariff being put on Mexican imports woke up Mexico and the US Congress. Time for Mexico and the US Congress to sh!t or get off the pot on doing something about illegal border jumper's.

The US House had time to pass a new dream act bill though.

Went to Home Depot today and picked up a 20 oz can of oil for the mower along with a new air filter. Got home and changed the oil and air filter on the mower. Had the mower for about 12 years now.

That was the big excitement for today.

All the squash plants are doing fine. The last couple days the male flowers on the squash plants have started to bloom. The female flowers are about ready to bloom. The cages around the squash worked out quite well for the leaves to grow up and out being supported by the cage.

The Swiss chard grew nicely. Harvested one plant for my salad last night. I like the flavor of uncooked Swiss chard.

All the flowers are doing fine except for the pansies in two buckets on the shepherds pole.

May have some photos to post of the container garden at some point in time.

Well whatayaknow, the 28 pair fell last night in the eve draw as 482.

I heard tell the Republican anti Trumpers are giving thought to running a Republican for president on a third party ticket to siphon votes away from Trump. They are mainly interested in getting on the ballot in rust belt states to siphon wins away in the electoral college.

Went to Home Depot this morning and purchased a one gallon sprayer and 1 pt container of liquid copper fungicide which I talked about last year. https://blogs.lotterypost.com/jap69/2018/7/container-garden-this-that18.htm

The past three or four days I have been re-transplanting squash plants from the wooden containers that had two plants in them. Had some five gallon pails with container mix in them so I put the plants in those. Now I have seven wooden and six buckets with squash plants with cages for each one.

After I got home today I assembled the one gallon sprayer and read the instructions for the copper fungicide concentrate. It said 3 to 4 tsp of copper fungicide for squash. Made up a gallon and sprayed the squashes.

I forgot to tell you that I have some Swiss chard growing in the 3 x 4 foot elevated container which I planted from seed about three weeks ago. Some of the seed did not sprout so I planted more seed in the vacant spots a couple days ago.

Made a trip to Lowe's garden center this morning.
purchased:
1 pt container Coleus bi red
1 pt container Zinnia
1 pt container Torenia
1 pt container easy pick gold zucchini. [4 plants in container] enough to fill the two remaining wooden containers.

Brought them home and set them on the patio and watered them. May transplant later today or tomorrow.

Only planting squash for vegetables this year. Will have 6 or 7 wooden containers of squash.

May go to the gym this afternoon.

362 hit pick three this afternoon. Third time the 236 combo has been drawn in one week.

Decided is was about time to do a little in the container garden. Not planting a lot of different vegetables this year. So I went to Home Depot and purchased some vegetable plants and flowers for some pails.

Purchased:

two containers of zucchini, one black beauty, one easy pick gold zucchini.
One container of straight neck squash.

Four 4.5" containers of one each Pentas Red, Zinnia, Begonia and Salvia

Got home and prepared the wooden containers and the 2.5 gallon pails to receive the transplants.

Put the squashes in the wooden containers and the flowers in the pails.

Have two or three wooden containers left for something. Will go to the garden center tomorrow and nose around for something for the wooden containers.

have a bunch of pails left yet for flowers and maybe some herbs.

Still have flowers left on the four arm shepherds pole from last year that are doing well.
