No more work...PLEASE!!!

Oof..... the sound of me plopping down in my chair sounds so good, Type  but I can't stay for long. More work ahead at "Roadkill Cafe".  BS

Just a little info about our plant.... We make too many parts!!  I got loaned out to 3 lines today only to be brought right back to my line, after they decided our parts were actually important, only to have the line break down and then get sent home. Hmmm... can somebody say "ironic"? Leaving So, I went home... 1 1/2 hours early.... whoop-dee doo.

I just can't wait to go back to Ford. I say "return to Ford" because in 2000, our plant, along with all of the other UAW-represented Ford parts plants, were spun off by Ford into a new company called Visteon. BUT, Visteon was contractually obligated to keep all employees at their current wages, as those employees were guaranteed Ford employees for life.

So, as you may have heard, Visteon is going down the tubes, and FAST. Ford, a couple months ago, stepped back in and put 12 of the 15 plants with UAW-Ford workers into a holding company in the hopes of selling off the plants. Our plant, and one in Sterling Heights, MI, are reverting back to Ford as of October 1st of this year. One additional plant, the other plant in Ypsilanti (I am at the Rawsonville plant) is being combined into our plant.

Here's the kicker: Since I was hired by Visteon after the spin-off (I was hired last year), when the plant returns to Ford, I get a hefty $7.10/hr RAISE, as opposed to the $14.42/hr I am making now, and I become a UAW-Ford employee.  Everyone in the plant is ecstatic about this just as much as we are (all of us UAW-Visteon employees).

So, needless to say, None of us can wait for this to happen. It just seems like every day waiting for this to happen is an eternity.

BTW, I talked to my boss today about yesterday's little incident, and he replied with "So? Happens all the time." Argue Got in another argument, of course.

Toxic Hell

Well, another day, another problem (in my case, MANY problems)....Rant

First, at Ford, since I have very low seniority, I get loaned out (brought off my line to go to another line)  to a line that decides to break down 20-30 times per hour. Oh, how I love my job..... I am too used to getting out of that place early, and I absolutely HATE it when I have to be there for the full length of my shift (9 hours in a factory will get to you after a while). A full 9 hours later, I get about 15 minutes of peace & quiet (the drive to Taco Bell).

Then, at Taco Bell, chaos was happening as soon as I walk in the door (mind you, this is at 12:30 am and we close at 2). People were getting wrong orders, people misbehaving, acting like idiots, just basically the types of people I do not like to be around. And when we closed, nobody decided to do any weork, so all of them left and left the entire close up to me. How lovely it is cleaning up after 16 hours of dried meat, melted cheese, and smelly tomatoes.

I guess this is how it is meant to be until our plant finally returns to Ford, and then I can give up "Toxic Hell."

Time to watch "Overboard" and then go to bed... See ya soon!

Work

Hello everyone!

First entry into the blog.

2 jobs can get to people after a while. I work at Ford during the afternoon, and after them, I go to my other job of 4 years, Taco Bell. I don't understand why I don't want to give it up, I guess it's just fun. Anyways, even though I am giving my all now, they want me to double that and train 3 new managers. All of this on my time off from Ford. They agreed to give me a 12.5% raise (50 cents... woo-hoo) to do it, but this now means I will have NO free time! Why did I say yes? Because I'm gullible, I guess. And I don't want to let my friends down.

Entry #2 coming in the morning.
