Amtrak gets over a billion a year from us the Tax payers, they have all the PTC ( Positive Train Control )
devices they need, they just haven't installed them all yet, and that track was on the install list.
The Engineer is clearly at fault, he was doing 100 in a 50 zone.
He says he can't remember what happened, even though his injuries were slight, but knew enough to get a lawyer. I hope like hell someone at the hospital did a blood test on him, even if they didn't, I hope he goes to Prison.

For every gallon of gas sold, the Feds get 18 cents, this is supposed to pay for infrastructure.
It varies in each state, Michigan get 48 cents on every gallon, again to pay for roads.
Looks like someone need to investigate where this money is actually going.

TY everybody! I'll take it a step further and refer to Hawking's prediction that machines will own us in 100 years.....we are doing this to ourselves. By giving up the control of the train to computer programs (train controller system governors) we render the human less significant and meaningful, and how many times do the computers fail???????????? All the time.
