I have to clear something up

Published:

Updated:

The other day a three-post LP member decided to sabotage a thread started by an LP friend of mine, with 24,000 views and 500 replies. I reacted angrily saying his ilk was making Lottery Post suck. He succeeded in sabotaging a good thread. It is locked now.

Lottery Post does not suck by any means. I wouldn't be here if it did. I apologize to Todd and all Lottery Post members for that remark.

However I stand behind what I said about his kind not helping LP in any fashion.

I've contributed more to LP in one hour than this person will ever do during his membership. I was subsequently attacked by a new member who decided to join LP just to attack me with his first post. This in my opinion was not a "report abuse" issue. This was Rick G standing up for himself. I don't need to hide behind anyone to fight my battles. Anyone who knows me understands that if attacked, I'll fight back harder than the attacker. That will never change. No one had my back on it either, which troubles me because I have covered backs for 7 years on these lottery forums. So it was up to Rick G to defend himself alone.

My "bashing" LP was out of anger to posters, not LP.

I sincerely apologize to Todd for that remark. It was not intended as it sounded.

I've had a couple of knuckle draggers to sign up on LP just to "make a stinky deposit" in my blog ..... so we've all experienced them.

Seems new ones need to hang around long enough to engage conversations with others in a civil fashion and find out how it works among long term active members.

Hi Rick:

I haven't looked at the thread you're talking about, but I'm familiar enough with you and your posts to know your style, which has been consistent throughout my tenure on LP. You've always been a peacemaker and supporter, both for the site, and for individuals. I trust that hasn't changed.

As for the backup, I know it tends to make a person feel better, but I can't imagine you'd need it. You strike me as a person able to take care of himself. Whatever reasons other members had for remaining uninvolved, I'm confident it wasn't the result of a lack of awareness of the rights and wrongs of whatever transpired.

Hang in there, amigo.

Thank you Jack and Konane.

My post was in defense of the integrity of the website, regardless of how people percieved it. My words might not have been chosen properly but my intent was for the benefit of the website, not the detriment of it. The people who choose to sabotage this website are the ones who should be chastised.

rick - the last time i was attacked - got a lot of pm's siding with me - the only person who openly sided with me was tenaj.

just the way people are.

Emily,

Don't get me wrong. I wasn't expecting help from anyone. I was expecting understanding of what I said, when I said it, why I said it and who I said it to. Context is everything in communication. As a stand-alone comment, my post might have been determined offensive to LP, but taken in context I don't think it would have been.

Thanks for your comment.

Rick, I support you.
I have seen your posts for a long time and they make damn good sense. Much more than a three poster, as you say.
Hang in there..

Thank you, Mike. I love Lottery Post and most of you guys I consider friends. I can't help but get upset at purposeful wrangling of the website by persons with questionable agendas. My foot is in my mouth sonetimes but my heart is always in the right place.

Rick,

You're a good guy, and I love your spirit. You defend yourself like i defend this site -- that is to say we are both very quickly get our backs up when we sense an attack!

I completely agree with the notion that people should defend themselves when attacked. I understand the point you were making about how the more popular Lottery Post has become, the more it becomes a target for the seedy and mal-behaved.

I know you don't need someone to fight your battles, but how about a compromise? You give them a left, and I'll give them a right: you tell them like it is, and then click the Report Abuse link, and then I'll do what I have to do.

However, I also want to put things in perspective. Even though Lottery Post's increased popularity has increased the number of "bad" people, the number of "good" people here has never been higher. The number of new and creative ideas being expressed has never been more plentiful. The number of active predictors has never been greater. The amount of raw data and content has never been this great.

Lottery Post continues to get bigger and stronger, and much of that is due to the new members that sign up every day, each coming with new ideas and fresh perspectives.

Yes, there are bad elements too, but we'll work to find solutions for minimizing their impact.

Todd,

It's a deal...I'll use the report button and quit using the keyboard in manic moments.

You are a great guy, Todd, and I feel bad for causing any problems here, especially between you and me. I have the utmost respect for you and your site and "getting your back up" in the defense mode is cool with me.... I truly understand and appreciate the blood, sweat and tears you have put into this site and I can take a slap upside the head when I deserve it.

Peace, Bro.

Hi Rick,

I just want to tell you that you are an awsome guy. I love your posts and admire your dedication to the subject of lotteries. Thank you for taking it up for me as well. You had your heart and your mouth at the right place when you defended me (I don't think anyone would like to see his "work" published on any site with the absence of the original copyright notice - that's exactly why I appreciated your reaction big time). I am sure you still have your heart at the right spot. I can only wish that your mouth stays there as well.

I hope you - and you alone - will continue to give them a "left" and a "right". We can all see what the consequences are when Todd gives his "right" : it arrived at the wrong person(s) by closing an active thread. Now everybody can read the closing messages of the 3-poster. I don't think he deserves that much glory. I also don't think there is any reason to not re-open the thread again (unless I broke some kind of a LP rule here - who knows?). Let's see what happens.

Take care dear friend, and thank you once more !

Stefan,

The offending member's post that started this whole problem and caused the thread to be locked has been reported to Todd via the 'report abuse' option just now. The post should be gone soon.

Rick:

Out of curiosity I went to the thread to read the news and events.
After looking it over I'm inclined to think the person who did the attacking wasn't actually some 'new' member. I looked back through the previous posts by that member, also.

My thought is you were attacked by an old member wearing a different suit of clothes. One of the platoon of alternate IDs floating around LP these days masquerading as noobs, using the alias to hide behind in order to say what they haven't the guts to say in the ID we know them under.

Probably this one has some burr under his saddle for you, or for Stefan. Maybe even wanted the thread shut down and deliberately provoked a confrontation in order to make it happen.

My opinion.

Jack,

I'm pretty sure that is what happened. Earlier in the thread the same attempt was made by an ID we know. Had nothing to do with content of the thread, just personality conflicts with the thread starter and manifesting itself in posts in the thread and a PM to me. I wouldn't be surprised if this person was the recruiter for dissension in this instance.

Just for the record: does my "ID" come to mind?

Just for the record, if your question was directed to me, the answer is 'no'.

Shalini, it's old history. Let's drop it and move on to something more important. Posts were deleted there and you won't get the full story anyway. I'm just hoping the fight-starter's posts were deleted as well. If not, then I've been urinating against the wind.
