Populate an area beyond what the environment can provide will have consequences.

California's drought is the result of the change in weather patterns and climate change. A lot of it has to do with El Niño. A strong El Niño could bring more rain to California, and could even cause flooding. However, there is also La Niña which has the opposite effect on California’s weather. These two events in nature heavily influences weather patterns and climate change across America. This is taught in 6th grade geography.

BTW, Climate and Weather is not the same. Each would be taught as a separate Unit.

Yep, and the Jet Stream promotes uncalculated changes as well. I'm stumped by one of the posts here but, I'll just leave this for some diligence:

Agriculture is 80 percent of water use in California. Why aren’t farmers being forced to cut back?

It's so nice to be mathematically inclined and willing to read for a change.

El Nino and la nino affects farming as well as the fishing industry. There is much more I can say but I am not in the classroom anymore, but I haven't forgotten a thing.

Farmers grow our food.

Silly rabbit, farmers can't grow anything without water. El Nino also affects the economy. We pay more for winter vegetables and fruit. I could teach you about the ripple effect that El Nino has but I don't think you will understand. You reject knowledge. SAD.
