Cheap Good Used Camera.
Published:
Updated:
Samsung Digimax S73 7.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
New is good enough, but they now sell a few used ones, if they are not damaged then they should still be good.
It is of course no-state-of-the-art camera, but should be more than good enough, it does have 2 things that might not be so great:
1st: It eats batteries up big time, so you might need either high capacity batteries and or rechargeable batteries.
2nd: Same as most small digital cameras it can't be connected to an external flash, so most of these cameras need good enough light if you want to shoot things that are far away.
------------
Also, it comes with some zoom, both optical (3X) and digital (5X) = 15 total zoom, so it doesn't have a super zoom, optical zoom is always the best zoom to use and not so much digital for better quality pictures.
The image sensor is good enough, but of course not the very best:
1/2.5" 7.4 Megapixel CCD
------
It gives a JPEG picture image same as with most digital cameras and that of course sucks!
Image File Formats |
JPEG (Super Fine, Fine, Normal) |
--------
But it is good enough:
Recorded Resolution | 7M: 3072x2304
6M-P: 3072x2048 (3:2) 5M: 2592x1944 5M-W: 3072x1728 (16:9) 3M: 2048x1536 1M: 1024x768 |
Video Recording | AVI Motion JPEG with Audio
640x480 @ 30or 15 fps 320x240 @ 30 or 15 fps Clip length limited only by available memory |
Audio Recording | WAV Format
Voice Recording up to 1 hour; Voice Memo with Still Image up to 10 seconds |
--------------
Maximum Aperture |
f/2.8-4.9 |
This kind of thing sucks on cheap digital cameras.
--------------------
Lens Focal Length | 5.8 - 17.4mm (35 - 105mm equivalent) |
---------
Focus Control | |
---|---|
Focus Type | TTL auto focus |
Focus Modes | Auto Focus, Multi AF, Manual AF, Macro |
Focus Range | Normal: 31.5" (80cm) - infinity
Macro: 2.0" (5cm) - 31.5" (80cm) wide Auto Macro: 2.0" (5cm) - infinity wide |
-------------

---|---|

Selectable ISO (80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600) |
Shutter Type | Mechanical and Electronic shutter |
Shutter Speed | 1 - 1/1500 seconds (up to 8 seconds in Night Mode) |
Aperture Range | f/2.8-4.9 (max.) |
Far from the best specs, but not the worst either, just good enough.
----------------
Flash | |
---|---|
Built-in Flash | Yes (Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, Flash off, Red-eye Fix) |
Effective Flash Range | 1.3 - 9.9' (0.4 - 3.0m) |

------------

------------

Power Adapter | SAC-45 AC Adapter/Charger (included) |
Input/Output | |
---|---|
Computer Interface | USB 2.0 |
Direct Print Capable | Yes (PictBridge) |
-----------------
But you might need WinXP to use it, but not really just get a card reader.
----------
System & Software Requirements | Windows System
Macintosh System
|
----------
Small nice camera:
Dimensions (HxWxD) | 3.9 x 2.4 x 1.0" (98 x 59 x 24mm) |
Weight | 4.9 oz. (140g) without batteries |
-------------
Should come with:
- 2x AA-Size Alkaline Batteries
- SUC-C2 USB Cable
- Wrist Strap
- Software CD-ROM (Digimax Master Software, Drivers)
- User Manual
- ----------------------------
- Very Important this is an old camera so:
- Internal memory = 16 MB Flash Memory
- External memory = MMC/SD card up to 2 GB, SDHC up to 4 GB.
- --------------------
- I advice that you find and use a 4 GB SDHC card:

- -------------------
- Buy the camera here or elsewhere:

And also get if needed:
