None of the Above Foundation

I've been thinking for a while about what a person might do with a jackpot win to bring about some changes in the political zealotry in the US.  It's something gone rabid, Democrats and Republicans going at one another with their wolf-teeth.

In the past I'd thought when, yeah, when I win a large jackpot, I'd put up a Zen Monastary with some refinements into other avenues of metaphysical and spiritual pursuit.

But the last couple of days have convinced me that Zen Monastary cum Spiritual Healing Center will  have to wait for the second major jackpot win.

The first one's going to create the None of the Above Foundation.  That foundation is going to do everything legally and monitarily possible to make certain no incumbent will ever serve a second term in office.

Somewhere down at the roots of everything that's gone wrong with America is the career politician, the power, the retirement and health benefits, the near-thing bribes and special interest supports giving them motives to stay in office.

A hundred million or so going to make sure they don't get re-elected might just help a lot.  In fact, it might just spawn a None of the Above political party.

We need people in national elected offices who get out and live in the land.  We need folks such as, say, fjxsterling up there in the Senate, or the House.  People who've felt the pain of the problems everywhere at street level.  People who aren't going to sit still for any air-castle election time feeding frenzy illusions to deal with real problems.

I can see it all now.

Vote for FJX Sterling

Heck, I'd register to vote.

Strange stuff. I had a couple of blog entries I composed while the site was down last evening. Tried to post one of them, BANG... it accepted it, but it didn't show up. Tried to post it again, Bang, accepted again, but it didn't show up. Tried to post the other one, Bang, accepted it, but it didn't show up.

Makes me wonder whether the first one followed by the duplicate, then the second one will suddenly pop up later in the day when it's too late to delete the duplicate.

I posted a comment on justxploring's blog just to see if it was taking anything, and it posted. So I'm testing with this comment to see if mine's allowing any comment posts.

You know something is rotten as hell when a wanna be politician spends millions of his own money for a job that pays $100,000 a year... This alone shows you it's not about money to the politician, it's about power and control.

Good observation. Right on target.
Thanks for the read and the comment.

Aim higher, fxsterling. The only way I'm going to get to vote for you is if you shoot for the big one. The White House. Leave the Mississippi Congressman and Senate seats for some haus frau, or a deck hand on a shrimp boat.

Thanks for the comment.

Jack, I like your idea of the Quick Pick Ballot. Hope that's one of the blogs you're trying to post.

Yeah, it is. I've shot it in there twice, seemed to hit the bullseye, but hasn't shown up on the blog list. Likely as not it will show later twice for the price of one. I'm scared to try again for fear of getting three for the price of one.

Off the subject, but the Forum system won't allow me to post anything there, so I'll do it here for those of you who are speculating about what happened to CalDude.

Just after he left I got a PM from him through the ID of his daughter saying he'd had a blowout with the site-boss and can no longer post here. Afterward he sent me a a couple of emails elaborating a bit, saying he couldn't get any response to his emails from the management.

I emailed him back telling him I was sorry to hear it, hoping they'd get it worked out. Believing they would.

He said he thought there was no chance for that.

I never cared much for CalDude's politics.... nor he for mine. We expressed that to one another in the email exchange. We ain't voting for one another for Prez, no matter who is running against the other.

But I'm sorry him gone. Sorry anytime I see something like that happen.

Aw, gee Jack! And I thought it was because you liked me. :-)

Did I understand you correctly? Are you saying a member (CalDude) was thrown off by Todd? He was often outspoken about his beliefs and critical of others, but I never found him to be offensive at all. Anyway, I like a little spice in my food - bland is boring.

I didn't say Calif Dude was thrown off by Todd. I said Calif Dude PMed me, then emailed me, him saying that.

I don't know what actually happened. Don't figure it's any of my business. But I saw on a thread on the Discussion Forum that a lot of folks were speculating, wondering what had become of him. I figure the nearest thing a person can get to truth's better than speculation, since a lot of people evidently were concerned.

I don't recall reading a lot of his posts, though I did read a few on the early Amilby threads... and we had an exchange about blackjack strategy once.

I think he was a pretty good predictor, though. Hate to see him gone.
