Parents need to understand that the school system is responsible for your child until your child arrives home. Many fights are planned. Students will flock to them instead of going home. I've had to go off campus many times to break up fights and make the students go home. The children that are hanging around fights are charged with bystander battery because they egg it on. The school becomes involved when a parent reports the incident to the school. The school tries to resolve the issue before the police are involved, but sometimes the parent takes it farther if their child is injured. Parents should read their child's code of conduct that they receive at the beginning of each school session. It lists the dos and don'ts and consequences of the school system.
