That is the stupidest thing that I ever heard of. The whole purpose of awards day is recognize those students that have worked hard, are studious, well behaved, and are motivated to learn. To avoid hurt feelings, only the students that are receiving awards, along with their parents/relatives are allowed to attend if its during school hours. This is their day, it's solemn, and should not be attended by students that will disrupt it. Every school has those students...they are called BULLIES.The next awards day, those that did not receive one will work harder to receive one next time. I have seen it happen many times.
