Prejudice means to "pre-judge."  When you do so, you're making a decision about something before you have enough data on which to base a decision.

True. I suppose that most of us wouldn't think of ourselves as harboring prejudice, but I think we should also recognize that it's much easier to be fair, open-minded, and tolerant in the abstract than it is to exercise those qualities in all real situations. Personally, I think we all have our prejudices. I also think that we can overcome them if we're mindful and honest enough to see their causes and their arising while cultivating a more virtuous mindset and demeanor. It's also helpful to realize that it's not always necessary to judge things.

I agree, Aye. We all have some kind of prejudice. I know I am not a bigot or a racist, but it's almost impossible not to judge when we grow up in a society where appearance is so important. Once when I was selling cars (yes, I've also had that job) a man in torn jeans drove up in a beat up truck. Nobody ran to greet him. That's the only way I ever made it first to a customer! He drove away in the most expensive car we had on the lot. Then he came back in a couple of weeks with his wife and bought another car from me and a truck for his landscaping business from the used lot. That was at a Lincoln dealership by the way.
