Cory Lidle 3/22/1972 - 10/11/2006

Published:

Cory Lidle one of the Yankees pitchers was killed today when his small plane crashed into a 50 story condominium in upper east side Manhattan in New York.  He had been issued a pilots license this last year and had been planning a trip to fly to California after the season was over.  He was the pilot at the time of crash and he did send a distress call before the plane had went down.  He was acquired in a trade this summer from the Philadelphia Phillies which also brought outfielder Bobby Abreau to the Yankees organization.  Rest in Peace.-weshar75

I am in shock, this is so sad. Cory Lidle was such a young person, filled with life. He was a talented athlete and well-liked on the Yankees, having arrived this year in a trade from the Phllies. He will be missed.
