Thunderstorm On The Way

Published:

I heard on the radio that we are due for a thunderstorm. It could be today or tomorrow. I don't like the lightening, because it could come into somebodies house. Very scary. I could do without it. We've had alot of rain the past two weeks.

Elizabeth, you've mentioned on your blog before that sometimes you think about moving. I'd advise you to check out the weather pattern first. For example, on some days we have hundreds of lightning strikes. So you wouldn't be happy at all living in FL. By the way, don't worry too much about the weather. Lightning rarely comes into a house (only through wiring) and if it does, you should be completely safe. Just stay inside or, if you are driving, stay in your car if the storm gets bad. Make sure if you do hear a storm coming and it's going to be electrical, you unplug your computer and the telephone or cable wires from it. Same for the television set. Most of the time, if something does happen, it's from the telephone lines frying your desktop, although it's never happened to me and I live in what's called "The Lightning Capital." I also have a very good surge protector. The only time my home got hit by lightning was in 2004 during Hurricane Charley which was a category 4 hurricane. Everything else was okay, but I had to replace my tv set. I woke up that morning (Fri the 13th!) and thought it was over because it was so calm and then a major transformer blew and we didn't have electricity for 3 or 4 days. Some people I know didn't have any water or electricity for weeks. So just enjoy the storm and listen to the rain. To me, rain is beautiful and a way Mother Nature washes and renourishes our world. I light some candles and watch the bright flashes outside and then wait for the rumble of the thunder. I'm sure you'll be just fine! :-)

We got a rain storm. No thunder though. I'm relieved. It's still very windy today. I unplugged my computer to save the power on it earlier . I want to keep it strong. I like the pouring rain, but not if it's too much to walk in.
