I saw that Emily...2 to 1 ratio. The ad implies, "a vote for a Democrat is a vote for Osama".

Shameful fear-mongering, but when you're sinking you'll grab onto a twig if you think it can keep you afloat.   We'll probably see more of these ads in the next two weeks as the panic sets in and they are scampering for twigs to build a life raft.

But I'm predicting the big story after the election will be electronic voting irregularites regardless of who wins.

Why use my words? History speaks volumes!

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
-- Herman Goering (Nazi Leader) at the Nuremberg trials

"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."
Harry S Truman, August 8, 1950

Sorry for the misquote although the word were correct. Just not in the exact order since, according to the links you provided, Goering said these things during an interview. I was searching for something else I remembered for WWII but I couldn't find it. It was about fear and how that is a motivator. It works with both children & adults. "Peer pressure" applies to children in playgrounds and adults in society. People like to fit in and nobody wants to be the bad guy.

No misquote from you, Nancy...I was just doing my college LP assignment of footnoting and providing links so the members could decide the credence of the sources. And by gawd, it looks like the Nazi said exactly what you quoted. Unless Wikipedia is now considered a left-wing fringe website spreading propaganda and untruths.

"Nobody ever said the majority of the country was smart."

Thanks for confirming what I already knew, Todd. By this statement you are finally admitting that the only possible reason that someone like George W. Bush could have ever won an election fairly is because most people in the United States are idiots.

The majority of the people in the US are conservatives ... at least by today's benchmark, and when I can be counted among conservatives you know the benchmark has indeed moved left from where it was when I grew up.

In so far as the ad, it cuts right through to the heart of the matter. Johnson (D) used the same profound technique in his daisy-girl/nuke ad back in the 60's so guess it's only acceptable if a Democrat does it.

Real simple ...... Osama and his henchmen grew exponentially because the weren't exterminated when a Democrat had several opportunities and FAILED to act ...... so they can no longer be trusted with national security.
