Thread ratings

Published:

I've noticed that most of the threads that I read on the forums go unrated. Do you ever rate the threads? Why or why not?

I rate them, but it always seems as if I'm the first to do it. Since you cannot rate your own thread, I want to ask people to do it for me when they like a poll or topic I started. Todd once posted that he can track who rated what topic, so maybe that is intimidating to some members. Or, like Emily wrote, they simply forget.

Em, I actually forget as well until I come across a thread that I think is particularly good or bad. Then, I start to wonder how others have rated the thread. That's usually when I discover that the thread has not been rated by anyone. I guess most of us just don't think about it very much.

justx, I think it was your Personal Numbers thread that I just rated earlier today. (See my post there.) I don't mind giving an honest rating for better or worse, but you might have a point about people being intimidated about rating. Perhaps Todd could create something to accomodate a brief justification whenever a rating is given. Usually, if I care enough to rate, the reasons for my rating will be somewhat evident in any post I might contribute to a thread.

Thanks for the rating. I didn't check to see if it was good or bad yet, but being acknowledged is all the counts! When I write a blog entry, I'd rather get a few negative comments than nothing at all. I figure that's what forums are all about - discussion, whether or not we agree.

So don't forget to look at the poll I started about "when do you buy your tickets?" LOL   Oh, I'm such a big baby!!

Rating...HUH???
Sorry, I personally wasn't even aware of such.
Oh well...guess one of these days, I should go read some instructions somewhere....oh wait, nevermind, I am a man, reading instructions is NOT a requirement
LOL
Have fun All
