Trump is smart to leave this alone now. Does not mean that his people will not go after her later.

I think Trump realizes that if Obama felt there was any chance Hillary would get indicted that he would issue her a blanket pardon. No doubt Trump and his advisors are aware of this which is why he is saying he won't go after her. This makes him look compassionate to Hillary's supporters.

Trump is finding out that being president is more than a notion. Campaign promises are made to win elections. Each campaign promise will effect more than first realized, thus causing a change of mind.
