Well it needs to be taught. If you watch any of the people interviewed on the street it is very, very embarrassing. They do not know history in general and students dont even know who our presidents are. They actually laugh because they dont have a clue. I have to wonder what they are going to college for. If these are the twits that will be running our country I hope I am gone by then. What a shame. Liberalism at its best?

It is a shame.

It is the LIBERALS. The school boards are full of them. Not enough parents get involved with their child's education. I doubt if 50% of the parents are PTA members.

When was the last time any of you attended a PTSA? You don't have to have children to attend. As a taxpayer, if you own a home, a huge portion of your property taxes goes to schools. As a retired teacher, I've attended mine and my children. I have worked in several schools and at each PTSA meetings, after open-house, the teachers outnumber the parents even when they bring their children. Being a liberal does not have jack to do with it. Parents are working longer hours, many times more than one job. American history is being taught, just not as much...schools are too overly concerned about the test scores that are printed in the newspapers each Spring, thus placing more emphasis on the areas being tested. The fault lies with the school board members that mandates the curriculum that is being taught. These are elected officials. The entire DeKalb County School Board was replaced for incompetence. Since then, there has been much improvement.
