Hey, Speedy, Sessions is so smart that he forgot he was under oath when he clearly said, "I don't recall any such activities...." and this was regarding 'any contact with Russians period.' Franken was crystal clear with his question, and, it wasn't a set up/trick question. Sessions KNEW at that point that he'd both spoken with, and, met with the Russian Ambassador. Why lie?? This is the $15.99 question. All he had to do is say exactly what he did AFTER he was caught in the lie. Oh, that's right, if he had done that BEFORE, they would've definitely pushed for his recusal in addition to probing him.

So, what he did was roll the dice on them accepting his explanation of 'not discussing campaign business' with the Russians but, the question was clearly about contact. He failed miserably. How in hell does a person of his caliber not recall phone conversations AND two meetings with someone like a Russian Ambassador? Really? Sessions went on to suggest that he was going to voluntarily recuse himself AFTER going over the whole ethics thing.
