Trump Signs Bill to Extend Healthcare Options for Veterans

"....Surrounded by the nation's leading veterans organizations in the Oval Office, President Trump signed a reauthorization of the Veterans Choice Act, a piece of legislation that permits patients to seek alternative healthcare options if they live more than 40 miles from a VA hospital or are unable to get an appointment within 30 days.

“The veterans have poured out their sweat and blood and tears for this country for so long, and it’s time that they’re recognized, and it’s time that we now take care of them, and take care of them properly,” the President said at the signing ceremony......"

Thanks JAP. I think so too & would love to see vouchers for vets to seek care from any doctor of their choice regardless of distance from VA.

Thanks Eddessa. They're been put on the shelf too many years. I'm glad they're finally getting long overdue help.

Konane this has been on the books for years now i have my card in my wallet if i can't get an appointment with the VA within 30 days someone will call me from the appointment center and make an appointment for me. If anyone of you have to use this service get peoples names and phone numbers and make sure the doctors office knows where to send the bill. The VA doesn't pay fore this the service dose and it only covers the one appointment. It doesn't cover additional appointment or services you have to have a conformation number for each and every service outside VA doctors.

The first and last time i used this was a logistical nightmare nobody told me where to send the bill so i told them to send it to the department of veteran's affairs medical billing office. A few weeks later i got a rejection from the VA and i had to jump through hoops and hurdles just to find out who was going to pay the bill. When it comes to government nothing is as easy as it seems. Nobody in the VA knows nothing about this service.

Thanks Four4me. I wish the VA would simply convert everyone over to private doctors with the same benefits and coverage. I hope vets would get better, faster care they all deserve.

It's cheaper to be treated at the VA centers and hospitals.

Yes it's much better to be treated at a VA facility, The center here in St.Petersburg Florida is one of the best. Have not had any problems whatsoever at this facility. I wish the other facilities were run as efficient as this one.

Thanks Maddog. Have a friend in Missouri who says care in their area is superb also. I don't know anyone who uses VA in Atlanta so can't say anything about this one.

I worked at VA, Walter Reed/aka BethNavy, and the VA headquarters by the White House. It was a bureaucratic disaster just like the rest of the swamp federal government, they are swamp money pits for providing life time benefits and pensions for the sloth federal workers that occupy those buildings.

Thanks Jarasan. I hope the swamp VA's can be drained and will run to benefit vets as they should.
