Are Plastics Forever?

Published:

Seems there are microbes which consume them. According to this article the mass floating in the Pacific is being broken down, consumed. Looks like for everything that exists on earth there is something that will eat it.

Author further comments to say that we need to be more mindful about not littering as that seems to be the pressing issue right now.

Last Month I read an article, the Author states that every fish they tested, is positive for a certain plastic chemical, I don't know if it is true or if an alarmist is going overboard on facts.
I do know one of the trash heaps is almost the size of Texas, because of currents it just spins and draws in more trash.
There are a few people working on ways to clean this up, temporary fix if the polluters don't stop.
India is one of the biggest contributors to the pile.
Plastic could be the human downfall one day, not global warming, global plastic tumors!

Perhaps, Sully, those same smart chemical scientists that invented oil based plastics could now create an expunging residue antidote or recycle into energy methodology for these wasted 'plastics' >>>>>>

Thanks Sully. I've seen videos of people making building blocks and materials to construct housing from waste plastics. Hopefully that will become a trend of the future instead of simply discarding.

Thanks Eddessa. I feel earth will survive and that we humans are like "fleas on a dog" in the grand scheme of the universe.

@Sully Did the article say how many fish the tested? If they tested one fish then I am sure that "every fish they tested" was positive.

If they tested more than one fish then did all the fish come from the same area or did they test fish from all over the world?

You didn't link to or mention the title of the article and where you read it.

Thanks Think. That would be good information to know.
