The White House is a dump. Needs to be turned into a museum and a new White House built.
The palaces other nations govern in makes the richest nation look like they govern from inside a shack.

I've heard that, too.   It's been since the Truman administration that they HAD to gut the interior and totally redo it. I don't think there's been any major restorations to the building since then and that's been 60 yrs. ago.

If it were up to me, I'd raze most of DC except for monuments, govt. buildings and universities.

Well, I was talking about structural reconstruction, not the design/decorative type. I believe the Truman overhaul started in the late 40's and went on for a few years, so it was closer to 70 yrs. ago than 60.   It was pretty much gutted during that time, and some severe damage fixed, some dating back to when the Brits put the torch to it during the War of 1812. I've read reports that the upper floors swayed when people walked around and the most alarming incident came when the President's daughter's piano nearly went through the floor.
