Wow! Looks like somebody has been reading my mind with precision! In my opinion, though, the Republicans' feelings are subjective based on what they can or cannot do, and, whether there's a (D) or an (R) at the top of the chain as PRESIDENT. Granted, Texas is most definitely experiencing an unprecedented hardship like its' never seen before but, most of these same people gave Obama PURE HELL in the midst of a very similar disaster. People displaced, property lost, people in dire need, and you name it. Now, though, they're singing a slightly different song and I'm pretty sure I know why. Awww, c'mon...you all know what the deal really is. Let's talk. It was only about two weeks ago when peaceful progressives assumed their duties by counter protesting a bunch of hateful racists, white supremacists, Klan members, Hitlers lovers, nig*er haters, pro-Nazi, and ANTI-AMERICAN but PRETEND TO LOVE AMERICA PROTESTERS. A lot to wallow there but, take your time. Fast forward to RIGHT NOW where GOD stepped in and allowed a situation which FORCED THE SAME PEOPLE THAT WERE AT EACH OTHER'S THROATS TO COMPLETELY RELY ON EACH OTHER. Let that sink in REAL GOOD. I'm not talking to the hate-filled Obama haters and such but, rather those that actually posses and practice Christianity to the best of their ability.

Now, look at what's happened. ALL those people that were flooded, both well-to-do and the poor, ARE ALL NOW ON THE SAME PAGE AND RELY ON GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE. The poor people in this devastation are already familiar with it both mentally and financially. The well-to-do though, are now experiencing what it means to have everything stripped from them and literally be poor...AGAIN. The message here would be to not forget from whence you came....like so many have. This is gonna be good.

LL, you hit the nail on the head. Some of the things that is happening is man made. Those that are ignorant of science is living in denial concerning global warming...especially the POTUS. As a child growing up in New Orleans, I witnessed hurricanes, tornados, and severe weather followed by flooding numerous times. I was not there when Katrina hit, but I saw the devastation it caused. The oceans are warmer now, thus making the hurricanes more violent, as evident by Harvey. One does not have to be a Meteorologist or climate scientist to see what's happening to our environment. LL, I hope you and your family fared well during Harvey. Texas and Louisiana is in my prayers.

The only truly ignorant people are those who believe in the global warming hoax.

There has been virtually zero warming in the last 20 yrs., virtually zero sea rise and the hurricanes have NOT been getting more violent but fewer and farther between.   When cities such as New Orleans, Venice and even Houston get flooded, it's not due to global warming, but rather a combination of subsidence or being built in a flood plain. (THAT's the only "man-made" part of it) Harvey was one of those "perfect storms", where it wouldn't have caused much damage except for a series of high pressure systems keeping it in place and preventing it from dissipating and letting it dump all its moisture in a relatively isolated region.

Quit praying, Sleezy. I'm sure your prayers fall on deaf ears; Democrats are an abomination to His eyes and you simply cannot vote Democrat and be a Christian. The sooner both you and Lucy Looser realize that, the quicker you can reach Salvation. (Of course, I'm speaking intellectually and only according to what the Bible says)

To address the article: why not want some of our money back? Texas pays quite a bit more into the federal govt. than we get back. If we didn't have to support the Democrat-voting welfare moochers in places like the Valley, Houston and other large metropolitan areas, the gap would be much larger.

Most of our beef with the federal govt. has come from them meddling in our affairs. Most of the lawsuits are from EPA overreach, trying to enforce rules they arbitrarily enacted that they claim have the force of law, yet are un-Constitutional. Texas has won a few, lost a few of those. Other lawsuits concern voter ID and re-redistricting that the capricious previous administration had instructed its appointees, progressive judicial activists all, to illegally interfere with...to legislate from the bench.

The poor people in Houston will not benefit as much from the recovery programs. Texas also does not require local governments to enroll in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program.

Houston is the 3rd fastest growing city in the U.S. I believe. That means a lot more construction a lot more paving a lot more clearing and a lot more flooding. A lot more people too.

Texans are great at making their own history up. I guess they have to because their real history sucks bad. And they all know it. Sorry but it's true.
