If you can't respect the school's majority based majority based national standards
Class room are not football games!
"I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."
Should read:
NO student assaulting permitted PERIOD!
And No disrespecting our national flag
If student cannot abide by the school's national based standards then student has the right to find another school more appropriate.
Class rooms have no place for following football game's shameful disrespect. Students should be taught about the sacrifice of of non fun gaining men & women who died or wounded and those are currently serving away from their homes & families - those brave who are paying the price for his seat our class rooms
Veterans.& walking wounded could be allowed equal time of these game fields & permmited to address school populations about the cost of their freedom reality

The superintendent of Farmington Public Schools released the following statement:
"The District fully supports the right of each student to participate or not in the daily Pledge. The teacher allegedly involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave. At this time, the District cannot speculate about the outcome of the pending investigation."
As a retired teacher/veteran I can understand how the teacher felt. But I also knew that the school district would not support me if I went against county policy. It bothered me at first, but I learned to pick my fights. I always had students that did not stand during the pledge, I just made sure that I stand and said the pledge every morning because students are always watching your behavior. My students knew I was a veteran and why I stood for the pledge. As for putting your hands on students...don't do anything to someone's else child that you wouldn't want done to yours. I fought for their ability to stand or not stand for the pledge... and I had to learn to respect that because I was still their teacher.
