From what little I understand, but I do understand this. Puerto Rico is under the control of the U.S. Government. That means that they are not a sovereign nation. Yet, after this disaster, the U.S. government does not want to be involved in any way whasoever, or they want to be involved in as little a way as possible. This is utterly confusing, because it looks as if the U.S. government does not want to help Puerto Rico because they don't want to give Puerto Rico it's 51st State status. Yet by not helping them or saying things like it's not our job to help Puerto Rico, aren't they saying that Puerto Rico you are on your own. Meaning independent. It's a strange situation to say the least. You know Americans for a long time made a lot of money from Puerto Rico. But as stupid as Americans act in terms of money, how quickly they forget. That's the truth. And I haven't even mentioned the U.S. municipal bonds markets. So there's definitely more to it.
