New Orleans Saints - The Real Deal ?

Published:

These guys are the real deal this year.  I was very impressed by them in their victory over Dallas last night.  The Chicago Bears will most likely have to face them in the playoffs.  The Bears will have to step their game up a few notches if they want to win the NFC Championship.  I'm not looking forward to that game right now.

The Bears play the Rams tonight with a struggling Rex Grossman and Brian Urlacher (> We will still be wearing his jersey and the rally caps, of course).  It's a Monday night road game which historically they have not done well at.  There will be an altar set up in front of the TV and candles lit for the faithful.

The tailgate party is subdued.  No hard liquor will be served.  Rowdies will be ejected.  There will be no roasting of falcons on the George Foreman Grill...hot dogs will be the fare.  There will be no appetizers with toothpicks protruding.  There will be much nail-biting to satisfy the appetites.

If the Bears don't make it to the Super Bowl, I'm hoping the Saints will.  Their camaraderie and team-play as the season winds down is commendable.

With that being said, Go Bears!  We're not giving up on the boys till the overweight woman sings an aria.

Did anyone see the first Saints game at the Superdome this year ?
I do not believe in things being "fixed " but this year the Saints seem to be destiny's darlings..

I'm becoming a believer and fan of the Saints. We liken the Saints here in Carolina to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons of the Orange Bowl...around here they are called "Switzerland"...nobody really likes them, but certainly nobody hates them either. They have their core group of fans that don't bother anybody. Don't you wish all fan bases could be like that? I was at the 'Cats-Giants game the other day. It's one thing to be rowdy for your team, but to be a jackass is inexcusable. There are plenty of black-eyed, bloody-nosed Giants fans now as a result of it. Our fans may seem tame, but they love their team, and they will be damned if some visitors are going to come in and taunt us. Going back to what I was saying...the Saints are growing on us 'round here...hope they continue to do well, much like I have enjoyed Da Beahrs ;)
