The Worst Mistake a Paper Has Made

How about this for a mistake in today's Charlotte Observer:

LINCOLN CHARTER 66, N.C. SCHOOL FOR THE DEATH 35

Now, it seems that the first time wasn't enough, but then the second time is bad too. NOTE: this is supposed to be the N.C. School for the Deaf, which is a great institution mind you.

But look at the box score...isn't this ludicrous? I mean, it would appear that ol' Zachary Parks (who is living, ya'll!) woke up from his dirt nap to score 15 points.

And just to make matters worse, they make this mistake TWO MORE TIMES from the girls game:

Yet here, the Death school won! How about that? If you are Lincoln Charter, you are feeling pretty bad about losing to a bunch of "stiffs".

Wow...how can they ever repay this back?

They were going to send out a Top 10 list to David Letterman something to the tune of

North Carolina School for the Death - a place where classes really bore you to death

North Carolina School for the Death - a school who's curriculum is to die for

Everyone is dying to go to the North Carolina School for the Death

Again, not ragging the school. It's a fine institution. Just wearing out this ridiculous gaff by a Top30 market newspaper.

also i'd be very offended if i was the school who got done that way.with that being the deaf they are probably already sensitive about certain matters....

I liked it better when we had the Charlotte Observer AND the Charlotte News...the afternoon paper. I actually had a route for both of them at one time.

This is what happens when you allow computers to "proofread" using only spell checker. There is more to proofreading than to check if a word is spelled correctly.

The saddest thing is that the reporter who wrote the story repeated the gaffe two more times indicating that's what they think the name of the school is.

Definitely Letterman or Leno material!

You're right Rick! I don't doubt this will make Letterman since I brought it to the attention to WFNZ here in Charlotte, and they are owned by CBS. Perfect for Letterman.

I've seen on Letterman (you know where he holds up a picture with a stupid caption) from Charlotte before. Can't remember what it was.
