I worked night shift for 20 years. I too felt pretty good on nights until it got close to morning. In 1998, I switched to dayshift. I was surprised at how different my body felt. I tried to do a couple of nightshifts as overtime shifts and was amazed at how sick I felt trying to work at night. I didn't realize what night shift was doing to me. I am sure this differs from person to person.
The sleep factor has always been a problem for me for different reasons such as, having a young child to run back and forward to school and to all of the activities that she engaged in as she was growing up. I lost alot of sleep because of ice skating and music lessons.
On my days of I had to catchup with the cleaning and shopping and still the running around with my daughters overloaded schedule.
Since I've been on dayshift, I've reached that age when many women have problems sleeping at night anyway, so the problems still exsist for me.
As I said, I think it differs from person to person, and also from job to job. I hope you find a solution.
