I think I might have learned more from the winners than the losers, though. I am 99.999% positive I won't get involved in drugs or blow it all on foolish purchases. Other than having some major financial firm (Merrill Lynch, etc) handle part of my money, I don't think I'll give control over my new fortune to anyone else. As far as being successful, my bar isn't set too high and my aim is to be more concerned about the return OF my money more than the return ON it.

My tentative plan: Lie low, get my ducks in a row and practice saying "No."

Mike, Yes, protect the golden goose that will lay those golden eggs for you.
The winners stay to themselves while the losers are all over the media.
CDARS/ICS is an option.

I could hire a financial adviser to be the bad cop to my good cop. He or She will say, NO.

At my age, I would more interested in money PRESERVATION, than letting someone controlling it for investing. My wife lost a chunk of cash several years ago to theft.
