gerald ford passed away last night.this president is one you don't hear much about these days.i think he was the one who ended the vietnam war.i heard on the radio there was a backlash against him when he pardoned nixon and that cost him the election against jimmy carter in 1976.i also heard he was offered the vice president of ronald reagan before bush but declined.can you imagine how different the world would've been had he took it?  he also played football in the early 1930's and won a pair of championships with the university of michigan.he turened down offers to play with green bay packers and detroit lions to enter the legal arena.interesting man and may he rest in peace......

I liked Gerald Ford too. He didn't start any wars.

On Inauguration Day after being elected President, Jimmy Carter began his speech: "For myself and for our Nation, I want to thank my predecessor for all he has done to heal our land." So I guess Ford was considered to be a peaceful man with integrity. At least we didn't hear too much dirt about him.

If memory serves me well, I don't believe Ford was instrumental in ending the Vietnam war. Although it officially ended in 1975 during his presidency, Nixon really should get credit for that, although the war was never really "won." More people died after the so-called peace than were killed during the entire war that began in 1959. Nixon's goal was to pull out our troops with dignity and honor.
It's never the troops who fail, it's the politicians.
