It's all about their own agenda. 1) Tell the people whatever they want to hear in order to get yourself re-elected. 2) Whatever the other party says or does, you say or do the opposite. 3) Do the same thing when voting on bills in Congress. 4) When the other party comes up with something that is good for the people or the country vote against it, so they can't take credit for it. Then wait a few years, come up with the same thing, and when the other party votes against it, accuse them of not caring about the country or the people. 5) Repeat the above as often as necessary to continue your career.
