Trump says he is likely to support ending federal ban on marijuana

I feel doing this will focus enforcement on deadly ones which have and are killing people. Let legalization be something voters of each state decide.

Americans should have the freedom to so as long as they don't hurt any one.

I see a whole new generation of lung disease, to each his own.

Thanks Jarasan. I agree. With freedom then the allure to use I feel will lessen in time.

Thanks Sully. Yes likely so. I won't be joining in if they do legalize.

I for one, have a different take on this. I'm totally opposed to this, unless prescribed by a doctor due to medical necessity. Surprised President Trump could be persuaded to go in this direction. I think it's a huge mistake, and they need to start doubling-down and enforcing existing Federal law. Being ex-LEO, I agree 100% with Dr. Savage who has offered ample evidence and cites studies that show marijuana is a dangerous gateway drug that invariably dumbs down the hip and cool populace that thinks marijuana is so great and harmless. Drug use will proliferate and run more rampant than it already is. The stuff they're smoking today is a lot more potent than it was during the Cheech and Chong 70's era. They're pushing the envelope by blending all sorts of toxic/unknown chemicals into the cannabis weed to to get a more exhilarating and longer lasting "high" feeling. It's enough to make a normal person sick just being in the same room with some cool dude who's been smoking his "weed" due to the noxious stench that reeks from his person. Most of the idiots walking around openly smoking weed in the city where I live already seem to think its legal, no different than tobacco they say, LOL! No way this scenario could turn out good. This is just asking for trouble and LEOs will have a lot more problems on their hands than they already do.

i LOVE RATIONAL FREEDOM-

Paraphrase Philosopher Wolfgang Goethe, all things that emancipate the human spirit without self control are harmful.

But not only hurting anyone is still not enough, what about hurting oneself into OD and the consequences overloading hospital emergency rooms that tax payers frequently are forced to pay for?

I double down with KALO on this one.

Thanks KAL. If it's legalized won't the growers also have to be registered with the state and have to meet certain guidelines as to what chemicals and fertilizers can be used? Or if legalized can a user grow their own?

Thanks Eddessa. Another thought on the issue. Hmmm.

From my understanding, Colorado is seeing massive increases in black market weed and has a worse drug problem than ever before due to the false promises of legalized marijuana that the left is so keen on promoting. Oregon as well. It seems predictable enough to me.

Thanks KAL. Interesting info. I've not been keeping up with that so totally out of the loop.

I just keep up with it as a matter of principle from continuously having to deal with all the problems associated with the brain-dead stoners and potheads in my former line of work. I know from first-hand experience dealing with these slackers and dullards about how wonderful and great marijuana is, Lol

One certifiably BIG problem is the addiction.

Thanks Eddessa. Indeed. Until we get a handle on that and also begin treating mental health not much will change.

L@@K at the candy that's being unabashedly pushed & spread:
Cannabis, methaqualone, cocaine, LSD, psilocybin mushrooms soaked in honey and used to sweeten tea, secobarbital, tuinal, amphetamine, codeine and, increasingly, heroin (which people are dying from everyday)
:-(

Yep, recreational pot and other forms of "candy" is all fun and games for the pothead slacker libs. They are staunch defenders of their "right" to smoke their drug of choice, regardless of known repercussions or harmful consequences, not to mention the overt illegalities in defiance of Federal Law. We know from scientific journals that marijuana is a potent carcinogen and marijuana smoke contains over 400 harmful chemicals that are inhaled into the lungs. Marijuana impairs brain function, dulls mental acuity and causes memory loss. It alters one's perception of time and distance. It adversely affects reflexive coordination while driving under the influence of marijuana. Stoners enjoy the sedative effects, but is not a benign drug. There is a significant percentage of the population for whom the THC in marijuana will provoke an overt psychotic episode, similar if not equivalent, to what would be experienced during an LSD trip. Emergency Rooms are filled with people checking in who have become hysterical simply from smoking marijuana. THC is fat soluble and stays in one's system for up to 30 days. Pot addicts are unable to think clearly and are much more likely to commit crimes of violence and larceny. More police will be needed to deal with the higher crime rates that go along with legalized marijuana. If they get their way with this, next they will want is legalized heroin. I hope Trump rethinks this before joining ranks with this leftists on this issue.
