When I served in the military I was stationed under the NATO command. I remember an order was put out to restrict our spending while on pass or leave. Probably too many US dollars leaving the control of the US. This was when JFK was President.

I also remember our base and probably other bases used to hire civilians to do KP duty. That was put a stop too and the troops went back on KP duty.

He may be going easy on them. If Germany is cheating us on trade and then using the money they cheated from us to buy Russian energy then that is too stupid to put up with.

The circle would go something like this - Germany cheats us on trade then uses the money that they cheated us out of to buy Russian energy. Russia uses our money that they got from Germany to fund their military in Syria. Syrian Refugees pour into Europe and then put stress on the EU. If that is what is going on then maybe Germany should be kicked out of the EU and NATO!

Trump needs to get to the bottom of what is really going on and he isn't going to do it by going light on them.

If they had been made to pay their own way since the ending of the cold war, I wonder what things would look like now. Bet there wouldn't be so many undocumented immigrants allowed into European nations. I also wonder if there would be the EU instead of sovereign nations.

Thanks Eddessa. We've subsidized EU countries on both lack of/low tariffs on imports, their tariffs on our exports to them. Add our contribution to NATO, such a deal! No wonder they're "offended" the teat is drying up, free ride is over.
