I meant to reply to the other one, but forgot.

Of course China is trying to buy influence in the area; there is unimaginable wealth in the form of not only precious metals and diamonds, there's a lot of strategic mineral reserves as well.

Maybe Trump can turn the tide, but with our trade imbalance and China's thievery of our secrets, we're paying for their expansionist policy. What I don't understand is the backlash Trump is getting, particularly from Hollywood. One would think they would applaud the clamp down on China's theft of movies, the copyright infringement and their sticky fingers in regards to other intellectual properties.

China has been building there for years, no surprise.

Thanks Sully. True. I believe Dr Pieczenik has mentioned China doing infrastructure improvements in Djibouti.

One thing China does very well is play "the long game", subtle moves now and planning more over the next several decades. They've played it before with the dollar, more recently with trade concessions and naval supremacy and now this. They don't mind taking two steps forward, then one step back, then another step forward...or moving the chess piece in an illegal direction, then getting called out for it and then wanting to go on w/ the game as though nothing happened.

Thanks Jarasan. I wonder how much they've donated over time to some of our foundations?
