The electoral college was created specifically to prevent a "tyranny of the majority". Were it not for the electoral college, the largest states would control every national election. It's also why ea. state has two senators, so the smallest ones can be on an equal footing in that particular part of the legislative branch.

Then again, I paid attention in 7th grade civics class...guess they didn't. That's obvious, esp. with how they're constantly referring to our form of govt. as a "democracy". Pure democracy is that "tyranny of the majority" and NOT what our founding fathers intended. It's also obvious that they - the founders of this country- were much, much smarter than any Democrat in office today, definitely smarter than the avg. Dem voter.

The founding fathers were geniuses who were able to fore see into our country's future. They knew that our country would grow to what it is today. Hence, the electoral college. As you said Mike, they didn't want the most populous states to control national elections.
Benjamin Franklin commented they created a Republic.....if we can keep it. If the left gets their way, we will not keep a republic.

Thanks Mike. They're trying to imprint the public mind about "democracy (mob rule)" so when they take over they can manipulate the mob into any mindset they choose. I paid attention in government class too. ;)

Thanks Rcbbuckeye. Yes the founding fathers wrote an incredible document. I didn't fully appreciate how divinely inspired the Constitution is until I grew older.

Thanks CARBOB. They do not have the ability to look into the future as to how todays actions will affect the future. They also consider only what will benefit them. My take anyway.
