I could use some medicinal weed for my hip and arthritis pain.

Thanks JAP. I hope that legislation is passed soon and those who need it can get it.

Sounds fair.

Thanks Sully. It seems to be what the public wants. One more step to get the illegal drug issue under control.

I really don't think Southern Baptist states are going to go along with this. But,,,,,, some did go with bringing in the lottery, which is gambling, they might. Time will tell. But when it it comes to random drug testing in the work place or even getting a job, pot might have to be exempted.

My mom has lung/brain cancer and it helps her to relax and eat after Chemo.
Never thought I would approve, but it does have medical value.

Thanks Reddog. The southern states may not approve immediately but is it's shown to benefit those who are ill hopefully they will concede. Sometime in the future it may be exempted.

Thanks Sully. I've never been a recreational user and won't change if it were legalized in my state for that use.

However for those like your mom and JAP who would benefit I hope legalization for medical use comes very soon.

I know, from personal experience, that it works well as a mild analgesic, but some might argue there's always Tylenol and I wouldn't quibble with them on that, but I also know from first hand experience with two friends, that it eases the pain of glaucoma (increases the flow of blood to the eyes and reduces intraocular pressure - the side effect? Bloodshot eyes. Old stoner joke "lemme getcha a bandaid for those eyeballs!" ) It also lowers blood pressure, causing veins and those ocular capillaries to dilate.

The "personal experience" for me was after finding out I had Type2 diabetes and having to take metformin, which has some bad side effects and while I'm not much of a drinker, couldn't have a nice cold beer on a hot summer day while taking it. I haven't been smoking it for several years (because one severe side effect of it is that it's illegal) but when I started smoking again after a LONG time of being away from it, I found it lowered my blood sugar...and that's why many tokers get the munchies! I never did, so I figured I must have had high blood sugar for quite a while.

The only side effect I suffered that first day after a decade or longer of abstaining, was getting up every time I heard a car door slam and furtively peeking out the window curtains. After I finally figured out there wasn't a SWAT team outside, ready to break down my door, I got a handle on my paranoia. It was funny to think about how stupid I was....I mean, REALLY funny! I should have listened to the Moody Blues or Pink Floyd with the first toke, settled myself down.

EDIT: "Hadn't been smoking it for years", not "haven't". I haven't had any in quite some time. Wish I had some right now, actually. The decent stuff is pretty expensive. I have a story about how if I HAD smoked a joint with a guy, he would probably be alive today, but will post it in my own blog.

Thanks Mike. You never know they may legalize recreational use some day.
