I seen Alan Jackson in 1990 before the world knew who he was in a bar in  Appomattox, Virginia it was so rough that he played in a cage the owner said welcome a "little known artist" singing his song "wanted" 

Putnam and braddcok gave this song to billy sherrill for jones to sing but he didn't want to sing such a morbid song as he called it ...turned out to be the song that put him back on top .
