Trump Plans To End Birthright Citizenship For Children Of Illegal Immigrants: Axios

Trump said in an interview that he has run the idea of ending birthright citizenship by his counsel and plans to proceed with the highly controversial move, which certainly will face legal challenges.

"It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don't," Trump said, declaring he can do it by executive order.
When told says that's very much in dispute, Trump replied: "You can definitely do it with an Act of Congress. But now they're saying I can do it just with an executive order."
"We're the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States ... with all of those benefits," Trump continued. "It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And it has to end."
"It's in the process. It'll happen ... with an executive order."

Thanks JADE. I've always questioned the process of anchor babies, surmising it could lead to the problems we're dealing with now.

Trump obviously obtained legal counsel on the matter. Legal counsel would have surmised Trump had something up his sleeve and the leak probably came from the legal counsel department.

I am glad he is doing this as it has been severely abused. Let it be decided in the courts as it obviously will be.

Will the Democrats raise a big fuss about this before the election now that the word is out. Brrrrruuuuuhahahahahahahahahahahahaha

It will come down to...or more aptly, go up the ladder all the way to the SC. Hopefully Trump will have at least one more appointment and then this foolishness about "anchor babies" can go away forever.

Thanks JAP. Wailing and gnashing of teeth like we've never seen. Lets American citizens show where their loyalty lies and it's with any faction that they can get more votes from. And you're right we need this issue settled in public and by law.

I argued this point and the 14th Amendment on Facebook with a lawyer, the younger brother of a classmate a few yrs. back. I was surprised he had turned out to be such a progressive, esp. considering his conservative Christian mother and father and that he had graduated from the U. of Texas, but I guess Austin's "weirdness" had infected his brain. I was also surprised he actually thought the amendment condoned anchor babies.
