HOA opposed family's Christmas display because it might offend atheists, attract Walmart 'riff-raff'

Like most people, if I win the lottery, I want a a new home. I'm pretty flexible on what I want, although I'd want it to have at least 3BR and 3 bath. (preferably 3.5 bathrooms) I'd prefer to live in a small town, but not TOO small. I'd like to live somewhere a little further south, but not TOO far downstate, just warmer than here, that's about it on the criteria. .

About the only disqualification is if the home was in an HOA neighborhood.   It could be perfect in every other way, but I want nothing to do with an HOA.

I'd rather hang around with "Walmart riff-raff" than the riff-raff that frequents the stores on Rodeo Drive. At least the WM crowd doesn't pretend to be something they're not. Sure, a bunch of the WM "riff-raff" might not dress as well as they should in public, or they might have a few more lbs. on 'em than is healthy, but at least they're honest, hard working folks and I KNOW there's not nearly as many perverts, adulterers and drug addicts in their ranks as there are in Hollywood.

I meant to add: seems to me what's wrong is that Idaho has been overrun with the Hollywood crowd, or at least those of a similar mindset.

Totally agree MikeinTexas! I have found some pretty awesome places I would love to have if I was lucky to win a lottery but the HOA put them on the no list. Addition to the rules and regulations, there is that monthly fee. While the fee wouldnt be a financial issue with a lottery winner, to me it is an additional expense that will go up at a member's whim, you would be at the mercy of the HOA ideas and I am not living in a place where someone else has control what I could and couldnt do with my own property. No thank you.

As for people at Walmart vs Rodeo Drive, I went to a mall in Santa Barbara and I never felt so out of place than I did there and I grew up in that area! Sure dont know what happened but it was a horrible experience. Looks like the Hollywood crowd is going to do with Idaho that it did with Seattle. Hayden is a VERY nice area and Coeur d'Alene is a small artsy, craftsy little town with the beautiful Lake.
