I saw that yesterday, linked from an unrelated article.

It's something I've always known, but am glad to find confirmation (of my bias, perhaps). It's a fact that conservatives give more to charity and I'm convinced that, while "liberals*" have more college degrees, conservatives have much more common sense and more grounded in reality.

*I don't like using the word "liberal" for them; they themselves quit using it in favor of "progressive", the opposite of "regressive" which is what they like to say fits conservatives. I prefer to call them what they are - leftists.

I consider myself to be liberal on quite a few issues, some that many main-stream conservatives don't agree with. (the ones who are "social conservatives") I do believe in many tenants of "classical liberalism", namely those of individual and economic freedom and smaller govt. (I don't care what you do as long as it doesn't pick my pocket or keep me awake at night) I think that probably classifies me as a "small L libertarian" with conservative principles.

Thanks Mike. I took one of those online political position tests a few years back which came out as fiscally conservative libertarian. I think outside the box but can not live in a world where reality is like an old black and white film negative. Those are the ones when you hold them up to look at light areas visibly appear dark, dark areas appear light.
