The Effect Of TV On The Brain

The one point I find interesting is that it puts you into a light hypnotic state where you're easily programmed.
The Effect of TV On The Brain

I've saved several thousand dollars and a lot of otherwise lost time by cutting the cable cord. I got to watching it one day, flipping through the 57 channels while trying to find something decent to watch, then realized something; funny, but when there were only three or four channels to watch (the Big 3 Networks + PBS) I could always find something to watch...and while those four channels were on my cable lineup, the quality of the programming from them had deteriorated so much, it made the shopping network preferable to watch.
It's not called the "Idiot Box" for nothing. Every now and then I miss watching some program or sporting event, but I've also found that you can find just about anything online. Many of the networks have their programs available on their websites just a few days after they've been broadcast, plus there are "other avenues". <ahem>
I'm a huge YouTube fan, finding the music of my youth when I hear a certain song on the radio; in fact, I JUST got through with an email to a fellow LP member who was talking about having listened to "Georgy Girl" by The Seekers and having it as an "earworm", stuck in his head. There are worse songs, I assured him. I remember seeing that movie w/ my two sisters, along with To Sir With Love w/ Lulu and the Tammy movies and Disney flicks w/ Hayley Mills, plus all the Elvis movies. So many pretty women and girls, overwhelming to a boy just going into puberty. <grin>
Sorry to ramble, just got nostalgic for "the good ol' days", my boyhood and "innocence lost".
But, I don't just watch YouTube for the music, but see videos about the news of the day or any other number of subjects that interest me, far too many to list here. I even enjoy the ubiquitous kitty cat videos! Yep, too much going on on the Interwebs to miss TV much.
